Can one family of five, plus two grandparents, combine efforts and commit to one act of service each day, for one year? Paul, Patricia, twins Bianca & Olivia (age 18), Sophia (age 11), and their Nana and Buppa, plan to honor the 10 year anniversary of the loss of my sister with a year dedicated to service. Together, with maybe the help of a relative here or there, we will commit to 365 days of volunteering, contributing or supporting, in appreciation of what we have.... and who we have lost.

Day 239: Homelessness Awareness Week
Hi!
This week is Homelessness Awareness Week. Tonight, Loyola students as well as other Baltimore schools and their students are participating in a Sleepout with the Homeless with the idea of "A Bench is Not a Bed". Nicole and I were going to join, but I'm still not feeling well, and Nicole has a ton of homework to do. However, the leaders of the event asked everyone to bring cardboard boxes for the homeless. So, we went around the floor and others and asked for cardboard box donations. We ended up getting 27 boxes! These boxes really help insulate the homeless from the cold cement on the ground. It also gives them protection from winds or rain. We were so glad we could help the homeless even if we couldn't join the Sleepout! Here are all the boxes we collected; we are lying on them too, and they are much more comfortable than they look!
